Ever wonder how many calories you need to burn in order to loose one pound of fat? Do you even know how many calories you need to burn in order to loose one pound of fat? The answer….is 3500 calories. Yep that’s it! You have to burn that much calories on a weekly basis if you want to loose and average of one pound of fat a week. I know you must be thinking wow that’s alot, well you’re right it is alot but at the same time it’s very doable.
This means that in order for you to loose one pound a week you need to burn 500 calories than what you eat on a daily basis. So in order for you to loose two pounds a week, which is the average amount recommended you need to burn 1000 calories more than what you eat on a daily basis. Simple mat = if you eat 1500 calories a day and you want to loose an average of one pound a week you need to be burning 2000 calories a day to loose that weight.
Me personally, I’m not much of a calorie counter and I try and tell my clients, family and friends that as well, not to focus too much on counting calories. Even though it’s good to know and keep an eye on your daily calorie intake what’s most important is that you eat clean and healthy daily and maintain a consistent weekly workout regime. The reason why I say not to dwell or focus too much on calorie counting is one, it can drive you crazy keeping track of all the numbers plus I’ve seen people still eating unhealthy and making bad food choices still while keeping it within their 1300 or 1500 calories daily. To me that makes no sense whatsoever.
If you make smart food choices, staying away from all processed foods, eliminating soda, even diet soda, and all white flour, white bread, white pasta, reducing your sugar and sodium content etc…and increasing your whole grains high fiber, increasing your fresh fruits and vegetables, taking vitamins daily, eat lean meats and healthy proteins and fats e.g omega 3’s etc…you’ll be fine.
As always remembering not to over eat or stuff yourself and never skipping meals thinking thats best to do. Eat small portions throughout the day eating every 3-4hours, averaging about 4-5 times a day and not forgetting to keep your body moving and work out minimum 3-4 times a week for at least 30 minutes. This help keeps your metabolism burning plus it provides you with energy to sustain you throughout the day.
To keep you sane eat 80% healthy and 20% whatever you want..not going too crazy.
